Don't bother to phone the airliner - the lines will be busy, busy, busy - and don't try to change your flight online - the information about "departures" will frequently be incorrect. If possible, go to the airport, go to the ticket counter, and try to change the flight then and there. I did for my child yesterday. And be nice: the airline holds all the cards. And the agents were very helpful. Now, say a prayer!
